It’s inevitable that most men and women will experience some form of hair loss in their lifetime,
whether it’s through genetics, aging, or from other conditions. Hair loss, hair thinning, and balding
causes insecurities, a lack of confidence, and can often leave those affected to feel hopeless. Scalp
Micropigmentation is a new, non-surgical treatment that is a semi-permanent solution to hair thinning
and balding.
Lovelle Beauty Academy is now offering Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) courses for both men and
women. Under the direction of our experienced Master SMP Instructor, students will learn the
fundamental theories behind SMP along with the necessary techniques to become an SMP Technician. We
give our students an online and in-class course component to ensure that they are placed in a setting
that will facilitate the best learning for them.
All students will practice on fake skin, honeydew melons, and mannequin heads. During our in-class
training programs, they will have the ability to practice with supervision from our Master SMP
Instructor on one live model.
Perfecting a new skill is challenging in the beginning, but at Lovelle, we ensure that each of our
students are given the appropriate guidance and support.
All students must complete their online training program and an in-person practical evaluation
before receiving their SMP Artist Certification.

All programs consist of lessons and modules. Lessons consist of theories related to SMP, including
the skin anatomy, hair anatomy, scalp conditions, and more. Modules consist of hands-on practice,
including fake skin, mannequin heads, and working on live models.

2-Day In-Class Live Model Practice
By attending the 2 day in-class training, students are able to practice on actual clients while
having supervision by our Master SMP Instructor.
After 2 - 6 weeks of completing the online training, students will attend the in-class training
session. Day 1 will review the fundamentals of the online course, as well as provide students one-on-one
time with our Instructor. Day 2 will include hands on learning experience during our in-class training
session where students are able to practice their SMP technique on an actual client while having
supervision by our SMP Instructor.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) has a variety of names in other industry professions such as scalp pigmentation, scalp tattoo, hair tattoo, head tattoo, medical hairline restoration, and hair follicle simulation. Although the names are different, there are many similarities to the process of the treatment, but this does not mean that all these treatments are the same.
SMP is a new and innovative procedure in a growing industry that currently resides in the semi-permanent makeup category. SMP is the process of using a fine needle to deposit pigment into the scalp to give the appearance of real hair follicles, ultimately creating a fuller head of hair. SMP allows us to rebuild your hairline, and add hair density to those who suffer from hair thinning, bald spots, or receding hairlines. This treatment works for both men or women, at any stage of hair thinning and balding.
At Lovelle, we offer an Online SMP Training Program and a 2 Day In-Class Live Model Practice
There are no pre-requisites to apply for this course. This course is structured for beginners with our online course module organized to be completed at each individual's own pace. However, tattoo artists, permanent makeup artists and hair transplant technicians are encouraged to apply as their prior experience in the industry will accelerate their learning.
SMP is one of the faster growing categories in the hair loss industry and is a useful skill to master. The cost of the course you will be taking at Lovelle should be considered an investment into your career and future. This is a very lucrative industry to be a part of!
The cost for the Online SMP Training Program and 2 Day In-Class Live Model Practice is $5000 CAD. We require a $600 deposit to secure your enrollment. The remaining balance will be due 3 days prior to the start of the online course. We will mail the course student kit to our students before they are to commence their online course component.
The best thing about taking the Online Course is that you can complete it at your own pace. If you have a natural talent for SMP or have experience in pointillism, then you can complete the course within 2 weeks. However, if you’re new to the skill and industry, this course may take up to 6 weeks to complete. This course is not about how quickly you can complete it. If you submit work that is rushed and not meticulously completed, then you will be asked to redo and resubmit the module test. It is in each students’ best interest to complete it at their own pace and to seek help from the Master SMP Instructor when necessary.
